So Ila and I try to keep ourselves busy. We've had fun times this fall. We explored Maryland monuments, found new parks, bathtub painted, carved pumpkins, and dressed up as a BYU cheerleader for Halloween. Her favorite was by far carving/cleaning pumpkins. It kept her little hands so busy and and she was intent on getting all of the "stwings" out of the pumpkin! She is growing so fast and is so full of personality.

To Name a Few

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OqsImmpGHRA/ToXjBGhAA3I/AAAAAAAAAR8/i6psP2Z3Fwk/s320/DSC01202.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658178114929296242" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RiVKoz2dHsU/ToXjAxon2NI/AAAAAAAAAR0/qKwPl5Tuuio/s320/DSC01216.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658178109324122322" />
Ila is so full of personality! She is definitely a character and sometimes, let's be real here, all of the time she keeps her momma on her toes! I just wanted to share some of her quirky personality traits so you can all get to know her a little bit!
- She LOVES food. She will try anything at least once. If you are near her and eating you have to share. She will go up to people she doesn't know well and has even gone up to strangers with her mouth open begging for a bite. Some of her weird for a toddler favorites are salsa, olives, pickles, and chickpeas. Her latest word is "Coke" and it is the first thing she asks for in the morning. But since she calls anything she drinks "Coke" she usually means milk or water.
- Ila is the friendliest little girl. She says "Hi" and waves to anyone we pass. This means A LOT of waving at the grocery store, library, park etc. She will stop and gibber jabber at people like she is having a real conversation with them. Sometimes it is rather embarassing for her introverted mom! Just the other day we were walking at a nearby strip mall and I stopped to talk to someone I knew. The next thing I know Ila is in a nail salon hugging and blowing kisses to the employees there. She even picked out nail polish and was trying to take her shoes off for one of the girls to paint her toes!
- Ila is SUPER energetic. When I say this people are always like "ya, sure, all toddlers are." Which is really annoying. Because Ila is really SUPER energetic. She does not stop all day long. She wakes up rearing to go and is on full speed until bedtime. Even naptime seems like a whirl wind of activity and is often short lived. She wears her mom O-U-T. I am always at a loss as to what to do to keep her entertained and busy. All summer I spent majority of my mornings doing activities that would tire her out. It back fired a little bit because I was more exhausted than she was.
I could go on and on about all the things I love about this girl but here are just a few to give you a taste of our Ila!

-

Hello There!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pzfF6Ha-K-w/TnoiMVPG21I/AAAAAAAAARs/uY7zOjBa_S8/s320/DSC01304.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5654869877371362130" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1SqCgSkZ7c4/TnoiL1dhiSI/AAAAAAAAARk/XIZTjMJMbqY/s320/DSC01328.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5654869868841896226" />
I know. We had a fabulous "Milk and Cookies" themed party. It was such a fun day and we were so happy to celebrate our little girl. She has changed our life completely and I only see more changes to come... She is now 22lbs and about 29 inches long. She says a few words like, "mama", "dada", "doe" for Frodo, "baby" and "hi"- which she says in a very high and breathy voice. She is a crawling machine. Everywhere we go people comment on how fast of a crawler she is. I am not looking forward to walking stage because I can hardly keep up with her as is. That stage seems to be a ways off because she has no interest in walking when she can cruise so fast on hands and knees. Ila is super social. Which I am sure she gets from her Papa. She loves other babies and kids and if you have food or drink you are her new best friend. She plays a bit on the aggressive side but it is "nice" aggressive if there is such a thing. Her favorite toy is Frodo, whom she constantly teases and torments. She loves climbing up the stairs and anytime they are ungated she is racing up them. Her favorite food is probably bananas but she will settle for peaches in a bind. She has given up yams which she used to eat for almost every meal. She is a such a joy to have in our home and we love our little wild child!
Here our pictures of the party and Ila lounging in her armchair that she got from her mom and dad. Who knew we would raise a couch potato? I guess deep done I always knew.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; We had a "Fall Festival". We ate tons of fall soup and fall veggies and did fall activities with the girls. Mainly swinging in the park. And of course we made it to the ribbon outlet. We tried a new soup recipe that has quickly become a staple in both of our houses. Even sceptical husbands like our "Sausage and Kale soup". I wish they could have stayed for Halloween but Paisley needed to get back to defend her title of Best Costume at the Dan Peterson School Halloween Carnival! We had such a good time. I love it when they come to visit but I am always so sad when they leave. Afterwards, I go into a depressive funk and end up eating myself into oblivion and laying around the house way too much. Sometimes it takes weeks for me to get over it- especially when I don't know when our next visits will be.
Ila and I had to celebrate Halloween without Andrew this year. The Haunted Harbor kept him busy most weekends of October. Ila was a little Lady Bug. She was adorable and loved wearing the costume. We didn't do any trick or treating except at the ward trunk or treat. We did go and spend the evening with Grandma and Grandpa Pratt and the cousins. It was fun but I'm sure as Ila gets older it will be even more eventful. But shame on me- I hardly took any pictures of her in her costume. Is it okay to put her back in it and take some more? I take a zillion pictures of her with food all over her face but I only get 5 of her in her Halloween costume! I need help.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; I was paranoid about the plane ride with a little one but it couldn't have gone better. We had good seats and good row companions and she slept most of the time each way. Ila meet her Uncle Ben, Aunt Alexis and Cousin Sariah for the first time. She loved hanging out with Paisley and she couldn't get enough of her Uncle Tad. We got to visit with my best friend Breanne and her adorable kids. Ila fell asleep on her Auntie Sarah- which is a rare thing for this baby to do and she loved cooking with her Grandma. We had such a fun time visiting and Ila loved Utah so much that she told me her one wish in life was to move back there in the next few years. At least I think that was what she was saying....
<img style="display:block; I know people warned me that babies grow up so fast but I think a more stern warning should have been given. I can't believe she is getting so big and that six months have passed since her arrival. Truth be told I can say this now because she slept well last night and is having a nap now- ask me on another (sleepless) day and I would say just six months? Really?
We went to her well baby check this week and learned that indeed she is a chunky girl! She weighs 17lbs 4oz- which is in the 54% category. She is 26.5in long (50%) and her noggin isn't as big as we thought (50%). She got her shots like a brave girl but gave the nurse a nasty glare (she gets that from her mom).
Ila still has tons of hair. It is getting a bit lighter and she rubbed a tiny baldish spot on the back of her head. Her eyes at times look blue and other times look brown. We think they are in the process of changing but are not sure if that should have happened by now.
She is eating her solid foods now. I have just started her on vegetables and she likes her avocado and sweet potatoes best. Anytime her parents are drinking from a glass she wants to too. She doesn't really get anything in her mouth but she insists that she gets a turn. She has just started sitting on her own. She still topples over especially if Frodo distracts her.
Ila is a very pleasant baby. All she needs is attention (a lot) and a full belly. She is quick to smile and is starting to be SUPER curious. She went through a phase (a month straight) that she was up 4 times or more a night and would not take a nap during the day. It was torture for her mama and I was beginning to fear that the rest of my life would be like that. Now it could still revert back to that but the last week she has done pretty good at night and is taking (forced) naps.
I smile everytime I see her. She brings such joy to my heart and brings sunshine into these dreary, overcast, Maryland days!

Easter

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S8OH1YyNhtI/AAAAAAAAANY/zn7OFzcmm7U/s400/P4040824.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459356524559042258" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S8OHZJJsB-I/AAAAAAAAANI/zwpHzdk2rIE/s400/P4040826.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459356039326205922" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S8OHYtDfEVI/AAAAAAAAANA/kUNo43H-2Do/s400/P4040815.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459356031783997778" />
This was Ila's first Easter and for some reason I really threw myself into celebrating it. Yes, I am aware that she was 4 months old and could care less but I had a lot of fun. I grew real grass in her Easter basket, I made Peep cupcakes, we decorated tons of eggs. We celebrated at Andrew's parent's house with all his MD family. It was of course wild. There was screaming and crying and puking and running and laughing and tons of food and lots of sweets. (Not unlike every Sunday dinner) Ila loved seeing all of her cousins but was a bit overwhelmed by the end of the day. Me too. We both slept in really late the next morning. I love getting presents early or late. I really like going out to eat the day before my birthday or b-day shopping after the fact. Belated birthday wishes make my day. Anything to make the whole month of March my month. This year I really was able to spread it out almost the whole month. Andrew flew my little brother Jesse out for my birthday and because I was dying for him to come and see the baby. What a great present! Drew did good. Jesse and I got to do some of my favorite things. Play Dr. Mario, play Super Mario Brothers (technically I watched him play), eat good food, hang out with Ila and we even fit a D.C. trip in if you can believe it. We also kicked Andrew's butt with our NCAA bracket picks- go figure. It was so fun to spend time with Jesse. We used to work with each other almost everyday for years and I miss that time we spent together.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S8OE2Jtu-II/AAAAAAAAAM4/AQTQk-R5F2o/s400/P3210789.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459353239158716546" />
Jesse, Andrew and Ila posing for a family picture

Nursery

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S6uK0bOTTuI/AAAAAAAAAMw/gUA3H8ZOMS4/s400/islabed.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452604407127690978" />
I said awhile ago I would post pictures of Ila's nursery. I'm finally getting around to it. I love the tree on her wall. Her grandma Joyce (whom she's named after) painted it for us. She did an awesome job and whipped it up on the wall in no time flat. This picture was taken by Ashley Harrison. She is a friend in my ward who has a budding photography business. She took pictures of Ila when she was about 2 weeks old and got this nursery shot while I was feeding the baby. I love the springy feel to the nursery. I'm a bird fanatic (in decorations) so of course I had to have baby birds for my baby. I'll post more picts later but I am still in the process of finishing the other side of the room. Is anyone else as slow as me in getting things done?

4 Months

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S6uJS19E82I/AAAAAAAAAMo/UyYe6g8UEQI/s320/P3230795.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452602730676024162" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S6uJSnljDZI/AAAAAAAAAMg/7I83AOWgdgM/s320/P3210787.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452602726819237266" />
I can't believe Ila is 4 months already. It has gone by too quickly and she is growing way too fast. I am enjoying her more and more each day. I am head over heels about her. There are definitely things you learn about yourself when you have a baby that you didn't really know before. I have a lot more patience than I ever thought myself capable of and I also learned that I am really selfish about by alone time. It is such a change going from doing your own thing for years to doing Ila's thing all day. She is an awesome baby and she can already do so many things. At 4 months old these are Ila's stats. Weight- 13lbs10oz Length- 24in (all measurements in 50%). She sleeps most of the night but gets up frequently in the early morning. She has rolled over from belly to back and back to belly. She isn't consistent about her rolling but we did catch some on camera! She is learning to eat rice cereal but I'm unsure how much she really gets in her belly. It is mostly all over her bib and in her hair when she's done. She is a super hungery girl and nurses almost every 2 hours during the day. It is rare that she will nap during the day unless we are in the car/stroller/or grocery cart. She loves being around other people and is always on her best behavior for others. She still has all of her hair. It is long and shaggy and looks like it has highlights. It is growing in a lot lighter. She has just started giggling and it seems to shock her when she lets out a loud laugh. I love this little girl so much and am so glad I get to spend my days with her (even on the days that I would do anything for a break and a Coke)!

Be My Valentine

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S4F4unG6qNI/AAAAAAAAAMY/yQqE1IUeZVs/s320/P2050628.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5440762567007578322" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S4F4uMm2KBI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/oAi11gb96W8/s320/P2050643.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5440762559893743634" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S4F4tauLvKI/AAAAAAAAAMI/9LuPNIUuZMU/s320/P2050623.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5440762546502745250" />

Ila on a cold, windy day about 2 weeks before Valentine's Day. So many things this year were special. It was Ila's first Christmas and she showed as much excitement as a jellyfish. She was way more interested in filling her belly. My mom, Sarah, Tad, and Paisley came and stayed for 2 weeks! I have always been really lonely at Christmas time since the move to Maryland but this year was fabulous!! Too bad I didn't get to see Ben, Lexi, and Sariah or Jesse and Amie. Another year though hopefully.
We had a huge snowstorm the week before Christmas. We had snow up to our hips almost. It was really beautiful and nice to have a chance to stay home and enjoy the season. (Andrew got to take a break from Christmas Lights and spend it with the girls) It was so fun celebrating Christmas with my family and Ila. Paisley loved her new cousin and was very interested in her. They got matching pajamas on Christmas Eve and I think they both enjoyed being twinners!! Which is just the beginning of their matching outfits I'm sure. We even ventured out of the house at one point to the best place in Maryland which is of course THE RIBBON OUTLET. This happened to be one of Ila's first shopping trips (of course, where else would she need to go but there). Sarah and my mom can't come to visit me without an excursion there. And of course we had a wonderful time and found many great deals on ribbon.
Andrew and Tad made sure to escape the girls as much as possible. They went to a Red Skins game and college basketball games and kept us loaded with food. We had an awesome time wth them all her and they are always welcome to come and stay for 2 weeks or forever!!!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S1eMt_A1QRI/AAAAAAAAAL0/e3578cWtIZc/s320/PC240513.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428962597455347986" />
TWINNERS!!!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S1eMtaZZxBI/AAAAAAAAALs/kX4afhTx_tE/s320/PC240477.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428962587626292242" />
Grandma and 2 of her girls
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S1eMtFJsQYI/AAAAAAAAALk/RgGn0NRAdTc/s320/PC240499.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428962581923250562" />
I know you can't see Paisley's face but I love how interested she is in Ila
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/S1eMs-eS2KI/AAAAAAAAALc/YRK-hx-w4ic/s320/PC240481.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428962580130617506" />
Ila in her Christmas giddy up from Grandma

JoY!!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SyLIzAe-35I/AAAAAAAAALU/0o9VqOhEQOA/s320/PB220362.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5414110480681590674" />

I have been wanting to write about the arrival of Ila Joy for a while now but with my more desperate need for sleep this post was put on the back burner. I finally feel a bit more normal now and thought I would get her joyous arrival down in words. Sorry this post is so long but it was a long 2 days!!!
My due date was November 21 and since I have a bizarre condition that requires frequent monitoring of both me and the baby the doctors decided it was in our best interest to not go past the due date. I was scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 6am that morning but we were to first call two hours ahead of time to insure a spot. So of course I could hardly sleep that night, worried both about the delivery and making sure I didn't over sleep and miss our chance at a good time slot. I dutifully called at 4am and the nurse acted like I was a moron for calling so early. I looked at my paper that the doctor's office had given me hopng that in fact I wasn't a moron and it said " your scheduled time is 6am but please call two hours prior to insure that there is room for you". The nurse said that that must have been a mistake because nobody came in before 8am. She told us to just come in then. I tried to go back to sleep (which of course proved impossible). We finally got to the hospital at 8am and were put in a delivery room. We waited for two and a half hours before a nurse finally came in and explained what our induction procedure would be. Apparently they had had a busy night. There were 12 baby girls and 2 boys in the nursery from the night before. At 12:00pm they gave me a pill that was supposed to dialate the cervix and bring on contractions. I had to lay around for a few hours before they checked me again. Very little progress had been made and at 7:00pm they gave me another dose. I was starting to have frequent but no super intense contractions. They checked me at 1am and no progress had been made. I was so frustrated and extremely exhausted. I went to the bathroom and started crying and could hardly stop. The nurse told me that I should just get the epidural now since I was planning on it anyway so I could get some sleep and be ready for pushing. I was worried that it would wear off if I got it too soon but she insured me that it wouldn't. So after I got it I slept until the next morning and they checked be at about 9am and said it was time to start getting ready to push. At 10am I started pushing. At this point I could tell when a contraction was coming but wasn't in any real pain. I pushed and pushed and pushed. I soon started vomiting and shaking and was so exhausted I could hardly muster up another push. We tried all sorts of ways to push. On my sides, with the hand holds, and finally they brought out the birthing bar and a bed sheet. It was really old school but it seemed to help. I was making really slow progress. For every push I gave the baby would move down a bit and then go back a bit. They started to be concerned that her cord was wrapped around her neck. Andrew and my sister Sarah were my coaches. They were really a good support team. I was really frustrated at this point because I was trying to push like the nurses wanted but whenever I did a wrong push is when they shouted that that was a great push. They decided to turn off the epidural so I could feel when to push a bit better. I think they thought I was going to deliver sooner because by the time I got down to the final pushes the epidural had worn off on one side of my body and I could feel everything pretty well. I hadn't planned on this and was not prepared to manage the pain ( I really was in no state of mind to try either) The nurses and Andrew and Sarah kept saying how much hair the baby had so I decided to get a mirror to see, which was an interesting choice. Soon after that the doctor came in and we got down to the real business. Ila finally showed her pretty face (almost 2.5 hours later) and we realized the cord wasn't around her neck but that she was face up. Her posterior presentation had caused the slow progress.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SyLIdqXNBdI/AAAAAAAAALM/uXhemB990Mk/s320/PB260401.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5414110113966130642" />
She let out 5 squaks and Andrew got to cut the cord which sprayed him and the doctor with blood. They took her right over to the neonatal team that had been called and they checked her out. My sister said that she had a huge cone head. I could barely see her. The nurses were pumping me full of pain meds so the doctor could sew me up because the epidural was basically gone. The meds made me extremely sleepy. When the baby finally got to come over I held her for a little bit and turned to my sister and said "You've got to take her, I'm falling asleep." Sarah grabbed her and I was out cold.
We were able to bond after she was bathed and I had had a brief nap. Andrew was such a proud papa. I was so glad to have him and Sarah at the delivery. They both have personality traits that helped me to feel encouraged and supported. Ila is such a beautiful baby, and it is true what everyone says about the flood of love that comes over you towards that new baby. She has a really sweet disposition so far and already is starting to show a bit of personality. We are so happy to have her in our home. She has filled our hearts with JoY!!!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SyLH4qNTKrI/AAAAAAAAALE/IhBiRr8M9cg/s320/PB300430.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5414109478269430450" />

New Arrival

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SxLC_A4UcwI/AAAAAAAAAK8/kuTMtTBmG-Y/s400/PB230370.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409600490249155330" />

Our baby girl arrived on November 22, 2009 at 12:20pm after about 24 hours of labor. It was so fun and they went to so much work. They had their house decorated all in pink. On the front door there was a little clothesline of baby socks and when you came in there was this amazing diaper cake that Calleen made. The picture does not do it justice. It is so cute! Pinks balloons, pink punch, pink dishes and pink cupcakes were enjoyed by all. They served delicious food- chicken salad sandwiches, walnut salad, veggies, scrumptious desserts, and this fabulous pink punch. I need to get the recipe for it. Yummy. I received a lot of really nice gifts. Everyone was so generous and I am so grateful to everyone that came. I have to say this little girl is spoiled rotten already. She is going to be so fashionable. Little girl clothes are the best!! I can see myself making up reasons to change her so I can put her in all the cute outfits in one day. Thank you Sara and Calleen for such a wonderful baby shower!
I can't mention this party without mentioning a party my sister threw for me a few months ago while I was in Utah. My sister Sarah threw me a little shower with my friends and family that are out there in Zion still. She went to so much work as well. Sadly enough I have no pictures of the event. Hence why I haven't blogged about it before. (I need pictures to create a post..) She served some delicious food and had her place decorated so cute as well. Her house is decorated all in pink already and her husband doesn't even mind, if you can beleive that! Anyway it is perfect for a baby girl party. We got Paisley all dressed up and when people started coming she thought the party was for her. It was so cute and we all know everyone really came to see Paisley anyway:) I got some great gifts then as well and am really appreciative of everyone that made the effort to come. It was a busy time for a lot of people.

Thanks Hostesses! I had so much fun and you are so loved by me and Baby Girl Pratt!!

The Final Countdown

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/St3v7Yj8L_I/AAAAAAAAAKs/C_RHy6QlTUs/s320/PA190318.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394731732144238578" />

Here I am in all by big belly glory! I am 35 weeks and 3 days along. Which means I only have 32 days until due-day! I've hardly blogged about my pregnancy and I don't know why. Technically I have felt really great throughout the whole thing (so far:)and have really enjoyed being pregnant. The last couple of weeks I was getting discouraged/ aggitated/ anxious/ nervous but I went to one of my doctor's appointments yesterday and for some reason I felt so much better afterwards.
I can't wait until this little girl gets here! It has been so much fun getting ready for a baby. My mom and sister have been spoiling her rotten already. I will have to post pictures of the amazing blankets they have been busy making. My mother-in-law has painted a tree on our nursery wall and it turned out perfect. I am still trying to finish up the nursery so pictures will be coming soon.
I will say for me the hardest part of being pregnant has been the loss of my mind. I can't remember anything and trying to figure out projects has become really frustrating. I hear that this will get a little better after breastfeeding but then only get worse with each additional child. AAHHH!!

pAisLEy

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SrfrJpGazHI/AAAAAAAAAKk/o4oLDqHpMjo/s320/P6140077.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384030430428843122" />
Paisley and Sarah and Tad now have a blog! July is our month to celebrate. First we got to celebrate the Fourth of July with all of Andrew's 6 siblings and their families in Outer Banks, North Carolina. Let me just say it was a packed house and something was happening from sun up (mostly screaming kids:) to way past sun down (mostly loud game playing adults:) The weather was so nice and the beach was perfect. Having not grown up in a beach going family I am still a little unsure of the ocean. I am paranoid that I am going to get annihilated by the waves and especially even more so since I've been pregnant. On the other hand the Pratt's are like fishes. They could stay out in the ocean all day. Here's a family picture with Andrew's brother Jeff.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SoGw0hr0q1I/AAAAAAAAAKE/BXpaXKqLcQY/s320/P7090129.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368766647244204882" />

Next we celebrated our THIRD year wedding anniversary. I really can't believe how these three years have flown by. I definitely think that marriage gets better and better. I lucked out in the good husband department. Andrew works so hard for our family and is always keeping a positive attitude. I can't wait to see what th next year brings us!!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SoGyNzsFwNI/AAAAAAAAAKM/5SOQsrTAes0/s320/IMG_0006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368768181085520082" />

We also celebrated Andrew's 30th birthday this July. He is taking his cue from my family and learning how to drag birthday celebrations out the entire month. I think he was a little sad to be leaving his twenties and was trying to make the most of it. We did family celebration, work celebration and he even had a huge birthday party celebration. I hope he had a wonderful birthday and that all his birthday wishes come true!!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SoGzaV6MuNI/AAAAAAAAAKU/JW_xRnH3W6w/s320/P7270167.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368769495941560530" />

Let's just say that I am exhausted from all of the "celebrating" we did in July. I would like to use the being pregnant excuse but I think I would be worn out either way. Here is an obligatory prego picture. I am now 26 1/2 weeks and feeling good/antsy/scared/excited/very bloated.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SoG0Y4_M7-I/AAAAAAAAAKc/Ai3aHh4pclc/s320/P7270171.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368770570509676514" />

Oh Sister, Oh Sister

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SmEEzWaVSTI/AAAAAAAAAJ8/Loswl-1HsWE/s400/P6100073.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359570311783467314" />

My sister Sarah and my niece Paisley came for a long visit in June. I was so happy to have them here. If you can't tell by the picture we did make it to the RIBBON OUTLET while they were visiting. It almost didn't happen... but it is the main reason I can get my family out here to visit me so it is always on the agenda. Yes, I still think that place is a bit of heaven on earth. We had so much fun while they were here. We went swimming, bowling, did a little shopping, did a lot of sewing, watched tons of movies and basically enjoyed each others company. Paisley loves Maryland and I think she wants to move here someday. The muggy weather does wonders for her skin and I think she misses Frodo when she leaves. There is nothing like a visit with your sister when you haven't seen her in awhile. Phone calls aren't the same. And since I have the best sister in the world I know it might be hard for everyone else to understand how a three week visit wasn't long enough. I miss you Sarah and Paisley! I promise if you come back for a visit we can go to the ribbon outlet again...

Baby Girl Pratt Will Sleep Here!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SkQngHiwR-I/AAAAAAAAAJ0/PJCZKsVfk5E/s400/P6250082.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351445689957107682" />

Andrew and I are expecting a baby on November 21. Yes, I am halfway through the pregnancy and just telling people. We decided to play it safe and wait until we knew what we are having until we let the world know. We found out today what the sex is; we're having A GIRL! (much to my surprise. I could have sworn it was going to be a boy. So much for Mother's intuition.) This fabulous bassinet will be where little girl Pratt sleeps until she moves to the nursery. My sister, Sarah, has been here visiting and helped (she was the mastermind) redo this secondhand find into a masterpiece. We decided to do the colors to match my bedroom before we knew what the baby was. I will have pictures of the bassinet in the bedroom soon. Anyway, Andrew and I are thrilled and very much looking forward to November! And I can't wait to get started on Nursery ideas next.

Holden Beach, N.C.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SiXO1gbUMwI/AAAAAAAAAJs/I7bkGoYiea0/s320/P5190052.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342903951577854722" />

Andrew and I went to the beach a few weeks ago. (Yes we used sun block)
- Getting lost but finding our way to an amazing beach and aquarium.
- The longest ferry ride of my life- I didn't start panicking until Andrew and I started listing all of the movies/t.v shows that have ferry accidents.
- Andrew catching the biggest crab of his life and the net person, who will remain nameless, missing the crab by a mile ad losing it to the depths of the bay.
- Did I mention sunburns?
- Missing most of the Memorial Day traffic.
- Spending a week with Andrew with no work, chores etc. to interfere.
We're back home and Andrew is getting ready to start busy season with Calleva and I am trying find ways to hide my peeling scalp.

It's About Time

It has been months since I posted last and my American Idol rantings are no longer relevant. (And they seem like the ravings of a lunatic upon further reflection) We've had a lot of excitng things going on so I will give a run down of what we have been up to. First, my mom came for a visit. We had a lot of fun sitting around and catching up. We did venture out for a brief visit to The Ribbon Outlet, or otherwise known as Heaven. You can never have enough ribbon.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/Sfij1IRBimI/AAAAAAAAAJM/ErGHmSpPae8/s320/P4140030.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330190292140264034" />
Mom laying in spools of ribbon.

Mom also helped me on a furniture project. She was a big help, and by that I mean she basically did all the tough work. Here are some before and after shots.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/Sfikrwog5YI/AAAAAAAAAJU/gogG2-EgYbk/s320/P4120028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330191230689142146" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SfiksC46WwI/AAAAAAAAAJc/wpXZUrNrgc8/s320/P4290046.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330191235589757698" />

It was so nice to have my mom come and visit. I don't get to see her enough and it was really good to get to. My cousin Bethany and her husband Ryan came out the next week to tour D.C. and they stayed with us. It was great to see them and I we had a fun time showing them the sights. We did a lot of sight seeing, eating, and a bit a Settler's playing. We spent a whole day at Gettysburg (there is no way you can spen less time there). Andrew had never been even though he was raised just over an hour away and supposedly Montgomery County, MD schools are top notch.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SfinO2518LI/AAAAAAAAAJk/QQFhZF9XtaA/s320/P4250037.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5330194032691114162" />
Andrew in all his Gettysburg Glory!

It turns out that I didn't get a picture of Bethany and Ryan wile they were here and the shots that I have of Bethany and me are over exsposed, but we had a great time with them here and Andrew just wanted to publicly apologize to them for the butt whooping he gave us in our last game of Settler's.

American Idol Disappointment

I have been a faithful fan of American Idol since the begining. I did miss the Fantasia season, but who can blame me. I was looking forward to this season so much. Things were falling in to place making it possibly the best t.v. experience of my lifetime. No work, new T.V., no other shows to compete with. Pure Awesomeness! That was until they let this lameo into the top 36. Nick Mitchell has a pretty good singing voice but his lame alter ego makes me want to kick whoever let him thru in the face. Yes, in the face. I thought this show was about hero worship and outer beauty and I can not see my inner teenage self buying a c.d. of his even if it was from the dollar store. If he makes it thru tonight I will literally cry myself to sleep. There were better singers and performers (he isn't that funny) that should have been let into this round. Do you guys feel the same? Who do you like? I haven't decided yet, it is still too early in the competition but honestly, "Norman Gentle" bites.

Fire and Ice 2009

In the town we just moved to they do a big activity downtown on the first Saturday of every month. I think they do this to revitalize downtown. This month's activity was "Fire and Ice". All the downtown shops stayed open a little bit later (there are some super cute boutiques) and they had activities up and down the street. There were ice sculptures and fire pits, hot chocolate, and roasted marshmallows. There was an Ice Throne and even an ice sculpture demonstration. Andrew and I met up with our friends the Fishers and had a great time. My favorite ice sculpture was of a Louis Vuitton purse. A ghetto thrift shop commissioned it which made it even classier!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SZSHaARCQxI/AAAAAAAAAJE/G4sAqqaAhiw/s320/P2070077.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5302011542139716370" />
Andrew and Brad Fisher with a cougar sculpture reliving their BYU football glory days!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SZSHZ6UcrlI/AAAAAAAAAI8/xAJc-Vttoac/s320/ice+purse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5302011540543417938" />
The very cool purse. The first two years of our relationship I worked at a floral which made Love Day celebrations difficult and last year we were both sick. Probably the sickest either one of us has ever been. Andrew did pull his sick butt off of the couch and hand made chocolate covered strawberries for me. Aww, so sweet, even if I couldn't eat them. So this year I wanted to get a jump start on planning how to celebrate Valentine's Day, but try as I might I can't think of anything appropriate and not too lame for the day. This is where you all come in... give me some ideas on how to celebrate. Besides the obvious, how do you guys celebrate Valentine's Day? Or, should I just leave all this up to him? Today is the anniversary of my father's unexpected death two years ago. It was such a heart breaking experience that I don't think I or any of my family will ever fully mend. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of him and miss him terribly. Some days I reach for my phone with an important question I want to ask him or exciting news I want to share and realize that I can't. I often think about how lucky we are (my siblings and I) to know without a doubt that our father loved us and tried his best to teach the truth and raise us to be good people. Since the death of my father I have learned a great deal about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how not only does it help us to account for our sins but it helps us survive through our hardest trials. My understanding of this is, I'm sure, minuscule but I am so grateful for the knowledge I have gained.
Things I love the most about my Dad are:
1- I can still recall the sawdust smell that was always lingering around him
2- His beard- he had it for as long as I can remember
3- He was a voracious reader
4- His love of playing dominos
5- He was a truely humble man
6- I love how when we made an off color joke he would try not to laugh but his crinkly eyes would give him away
7- I don't know a harder worker or a man with more integrity
8- I miss Father's Blessings
9- He understood some of my weird quirks because I got them from him
10- I always knew where I stood with him
This is a longer post than neccessary but on a final note, I read a talk by Neal A. Maxwell on suffering through hardships and I got this amazing quote from him.

"The cavity which suffering carves into our souls will one day also be the receptacle of joy"
What a great promise,to know that the emptiness we feel when we are suffering through heartache will be filled with happiness one day.

Our New Home (or the Bank now Owns our Backsides)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 306px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SSq_SK-1QKI/AAAAAAAAAIE/PAntiZ7G1z0/s400/homesweethome.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5272236632697028770" />

Andrew and I just bought our first house! We signed on Friday and it is ours officially. We are so excited. The whole mortgage and real estate deal was so daunting and at times discouraging but we muddled our way through and are now home owners. It is in a town called Frederick which is about half an hour northwest from where we are right now. It is a three bedroom townhouse and we've already started painting and doing some fixing up. We are slowly moving in and it seems that we will be lucky if we make it there before Christmas. My little brother is here working with Andrew and we've finagled him into painting and hauling. Perfect timing Jesse! Sara aptly summed up the party as she was leaving by groaning and saying, "I think I am leaving your house ten pounds heavier than when I got here."
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 304px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SQuNEs2iLFI/AAAAAAAAAH8/BbDRANqsvF4/s400/DaveandGloria%2708.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5263455701411441746" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 304px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SQuNENWgl1I/AAAAAAAAAH0/BR_sI5Ysn6I/s400/JaydenandJessie%2708.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5263455692955621202" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 304px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SQuNDpvsrII/AAAAAAAAAHs/M3fIY4FKILg/s400/SaraandBrad%2708.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5263455683397594242" />

If it looks like Andrew is wearing eye liner it's because he is. The pumpkin costume that Jesse is in was passed down from the oldest to the youngest. He probably wore it the most years though. Please notice my very classy spider getup. I was this for years. Each year my mom would "add" something to my costume. (i.e. a spider ring or cobwebs etc...) Sarah is punk rocker chic and I think the balloon costume is supposed to be grapes or bubbles. The mask my dad has on caused me nightmares my entire life. We still have it and I get a little spooked still. My favorite is Benny's pantyhose mask. What a freak!
We had great Halloween memories. My mom would make "dinner in a pumpkin" and a ghost cake that we lit on fire. My dad would take us around for awhile and then back at the house we would scare the trick or treaters coming up the walk with our scary ghost on a pulley. And then the candy trading began, Jesse would trade almost anything for SMARTIES. Yes, even the fun size candy bars. Ben would hoard his candy and when the rest of us had eaten all of ours we would pull pieces out and bribe us or (mostly) just taunt us. Good Times!!
What are some of your Halloween memories? Did you have great costumes? Great food? Share some of these with me. I would love to hear them!

So Here's to You

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SPDEp5UJToI/AAAAAAAAAHM/YKSFV52hmlM/s400/P9140146.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5255916989180366466" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SPDEqlNLSCI/AAAAAAAAAHU/KWnoM5d5iXU/s400/P9140148.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5255917000962295842" />

Jesse and Amie, I definitely did not leave you off of the last post intentionally. The thing is I only had these 2 pictures with either one of you in them and since I was doing an overview of the trip they just didn't work out. But to tell you I was so happy you drove up to see us would be an understatement. I love and miss you guys so much and it meant a lot to me that you came to visit. By the way, yes, Jesse is a big baby and still needs to be carried around by his big sister sometimes. And Amie here is some advice for dealing with Jesse; whenever he won't listen to you or do what you need him to do, just sit on him. It worked for me when we were growing up. He will either give in and do what you need him to do or break down crying. Both outcomes are really rewarding!

"How Beautiful it is to do Nothing, and Then Rest Afterwards"

Andrew and I went on a long over do vacation to Utah and Yellowstone. We had such a good time. We planned our trip around BYU Football games and Andrew couldn't have been more thrilled. If you asked me 2 years ago if I would be planning my future vacations around team sports I would have laughed in your face. But now since I am desperate for a glimpse of mountains and family I would take any excuse. We saw most of Andrew's family while we were there and all of mine. And then we headed to Yellowstone. I love this National Park. We had our honeymoon here and have been there several times since. I grew up going there or to at least the surrounding areas almost every summer. It is my favorite place on Earth and I imagine Heaven to be just like it.
Here are some of our pictures from the vacation...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SOe_vdQ78KI/AAAAAAAAAGI/x5T25_nMRg4/s400/P9130131.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5253378312381395106" />
GO COUGARS!!! I like to turn them up really loud and make up my own parts and improvise on the lyrics (just like Adam Duritz does live). Anyway, I was listening to this song titled "The Rain King" and one of the lines from it really got me thinking. The line goes... "I belong in the service of a Queen" and the song continues. I have no idea what the Counting Crows meant my their song lyrics but the line made me consider my relationship with Andrew and how I treat him. I definitely expect to be treated like a Queen but do I treat Andrew like a King? Do I give him the respect he deserves and do I encourage him like I should? It also made me consider if I am not doing these things already what is wrong with me? He definitely belongs in the service of a queen. He works very hard to provide for us and he takes his church callings and obligations seriously. I think it all comes down to showing gratitude and giving validation. Anyways, thanks Counting Crows for helping me take a step back and reassess how I treat my King. Hey, What do you do to show how grateful you are for the most important people in your life?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SMc57qvgBwI/AAAAAAAAAGA/aSbHbWXx40c/s400/P8070081.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244223988344817410" />

Andrew fixing our pipe that burst and flooded both the downstairs laundry area and the upstairs kitchen... good man.

And So it Begins....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SL0zQmJsW-I/AAAAAAAAAF4/EkruVr568uc/s320/scriptures.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241401901541252066" />

Today was the offical start of early morning Seminary. This is the second year that Andrew and I have taught. We teach the younger group of kids and this year we are studying the New Testament. First let me get my gripes out... it starts at 6:00am,in the winter it is still dark when we are done with class, we need to have a new lesson prepared daily, (this sometimes takes me hours and it almost always takes Andrew 15 minutes argh!), our house becomes a disaster, and our personal life goes on hiatus.
Now that I am done getting the bad things out of the way I can go on to say that I am really looking forward to this year. Last year was awesome and we had great kids in the class (some that have moved on :(, but the Old Tesatment was hard and we had no real idea what we were doing. This year we are much more ready and organized. We have a huge class and hopefully some investigaters will be coming.
Things that I love about teaching Seminary... I definitely get more out of my scripture study, I learn things in a totally different way, getting to know the kids in our ward, my testimony grows leaps and bounds compared to when I am on my own, and I definitely feel a sense of accomplishment- especially when the year is over.
When I look back on my Seminary experience I feel sort of guilty. I was a brat to many of my teachers and I certainly took it for granted. If I would have payed more attention then I bet I could finish my lessons in minutes rather than hours!

"She's Crafty"

This is one of my "projects" I worked on this summer. Probably the only one I finished but it was my first real attempt at furniture redoing so I am very proud of the end results. Ray and Joyce, my in-laws, have a great eye for a good deal and they picked this hutch up at an Amish auction for $4.00. I stripped it, painted it, and put new hardware on and re-papered the back. I had a lot of fun doing it and am already thinking of repainting all of our missed matched newlywed furniture.

BEFORE:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SLQYA12LMnI/AAAAAAAAAFY/B2Rb3h4dTio/s320/P7140005.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5238838669272101490" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SLQYDB_azWI/AAAAAAAAAFg/yPx_Lb4SSXw/s320/P7060013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5238838706891836770" />

AFTER:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SLQYrY7nLvI/AAAAAAAAAFo/HkbV7K43Vjs/s320/P8060080.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5238839400244653810" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SLQYrlg44pI/AAAAAAAAAFw/HbI6AMr3Hh4/s320/P8060079.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5238839403622228626" />

I couldn't get a shot of the whole thing together and there is glare on the after shots but I think it gets the point across.

"How Quick Come the Reasons for Approving what we Like"

Jane Austen fans rejoice! This year they hosted an 80's prom. The company owners and their families put a lot of time and work into making it a great night for the summer employees. It was, of course, a costume dance. I found my dress at a thrift store in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was the wrong size but I was determined to make it work. I was trying it on and got stuck in it. My mom was with me so I had to have her come and pull it off of me. I got it anyway and used some of my limited sewing skills and fixed it up for the dance. We found Andrew's rad costume at the Goodwill. Everyone was dressed up and really ready for a good time. In a way it reminded me of stake church dances growing up except there was a lot more (unnecessary) flesh and this time I had Andrew to dance with instead of hoping Philip Roylance would ask me to dance to "Lady in Red".
A lot of the staff that Andrew works with in the summer are teenagers. They kept asking "if this is what it was really like in the 80's". I didn't think we looked that old... maybe just out of place. They had a Dance Contest and Andrew and I placed third!! He thinks we were robbed and I think we were lucky and that we had embarrassed ourselves enough for the night.
I love the 80's. Definitely not the fashions but the movies and the music are the best. So here's to the 80's!! My favorite 80's movies are "The Breakfast Club", "Footloose", and "Better off Dead". Some of my favoite 80's bands are Depeche Mode, Yaz,and Erasure. What are some of your favorites?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SKGrRRNsy1I/AAAAAAAAAE4/ypdEh65V5OM/s320/P8020046.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233652555148217170" />
Andrew and I all dressed up.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SKGrR_3vj9I/AAAAAAAAAFA/2TsaSceieQU/s320/P8020051.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233652567672590290" />
Me,Gloria and Dave and Michael and Chris. This is a rare occurrence because we live in the freakin' boonies and don't know too many people. Admittedly I was a bit excited to see who was knocking. It was Lameo (Calleva nickname and never a more deserving one). She works with Andrew at the camp. She said that Andrew wanted Frodo to come to council at camp. Well, Frodo and I have been spending a lot of time with one another and I thought we could use a break. It seemed like an odd request but coming from Andrew... So anyway Frodo was sent on his merry way. It turns out I had willingly handed him over to dog nappers. Lameo kidnapped him and held him hostage. She and her accomplices spray painted his hair hot pink and returned him to Andrew. Now this seems odd but it is a popular thing at camp to play pranks on the other workers. I think this is actually hilarious. Frodo looks like a little puppy punk rocker. We've had people ask some funny things. One lady thought we did it for Breast Cancer Awareness (I wish I was that socially conscious) and we've had a lot of "cross-dressing doggie" comments as well. So I was duped by a girl named Lameo.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SJoJRh6A1JI/AAAAAAAAAEo/t2BbjhMup-g/s320/P8010040.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231504113908372626" />
Not that great of a shot but it is the only one without Frodo's eyes glowing. His very favorite band. The band members grew up around here and Andrew went to school with the bassist. I am not a big O.A.R. fan. I like a handful of their songs and then the rest drive me crazy. But I will give them credit; they sounded really good live. A lot of bands sound different or not as good live but they sounded better. The concert was at Merriwether Post Pavillion. It is like an ampitheatre venue. We were probably the only sober ones there, as well as some of the oldest. Do you ever have those moments when you look around and you are like "I do not belong here"? Well this concert was one of those times for me. Anyway it was fun to people watch and at least they sounded great live. And it's always fun to celebrate birthdays or anything with Andrew.
I hope Andrew had an awesome birthday. He is such a great guy and I wish him a year full of happiness.

Good Times

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SI3xTbDXpVI/AAAAAAAAAEY/23HW5skHL_c/s320/P7200009.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5228100058428712274" />

My sister Sarah and her husband Tad and their little girl Paisley came for a visit this past week. It was so great to have them here!!! They first came for a 4p- Wolf Hirschorn- Support group conference. That is the chromosome disorder that Paisley has. I went to the conference a few days with them. It was really a neat expereience. The kids that have 4p have such a huge range of ability. I am glad I went. It reminded me that there are good selfless people in this world and that love is an essential part of life.
While they were here we caught up on some amazing Settler's of Catan- Cities and Knights playing. Sarah and Tad won a game each and then wouldn't play anymore. I think they just want to hold the wins over Andrew's and my heads. If anyone has never played that game you should look into it. It is so fun. Sarah is a ruthless player and she shows no remorse. Tad is sneaky and gets you when you're not expecting it.
Andrew's parents came and watched Paisley one night (so nice) and we went to The Dark Knight movie. It was awesome. The Joker was a great villian and I was really creeped out at times. We also ate out so much that the thought of eating out again makes me sick.... unless it's Chipotle!
It was so fun to have them here. I hope that they had an awesome time. It makes me so happy to see my family.

"I got gaps; you got gaps; we fill each others gaps." Especially when I am driving down tree enclosed roads it looks so idyllic.

3rd- This one is really weird but I have seen some amazing fungus here. I have seen bright yellow and red fungus and it grows out of tree stumps or on the fence posts. It gets to be so big. I love going on walks trying to find really cool fungus. (Yes, I am a bit of a nerd, but check this shroom out!)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SHYfeEwqeLI/AAAAAAAAACc/UAjjQI788E0/s200/P7060012.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221395419517057202" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SHYfejS74nI/AAAAAAAAACk/DSxleaqFJA4/s200/P7060011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221395427713868402" />

4th- Our garden starts really growing and without too much help from us! Our garden is a drive away from our house so we don't get there too often, but each year so far we have still gotten a lot of vegetables out of it!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SHYg08AIBhI/AAAAAAAAACs/7ztqFDxu-d4/s200/P7050001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221396911814608402" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SHYg1IAAo-I/AAAAAAAAAC0/sBmjFzEacZI/s200/P7050002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221396915035349986" />

I am glad summer happens because the winter here is a bit yucky and dark. We always plan to make our way down to D.C. and join in the festivities downtown but the weather has changed our mind. Next year we are just going to have to deal with it so I can say I have celebrated Independence Day in the nation's capital.
So this year we met up with our friends Sara and Brad and decided to eat at Chipotle, a favorite of both couples. But guess what!? They closed at six or seven o'clock!! We were so set on burritos that we went to another burrito place and we were just even more disappointed. But we did see some awesome fireworks in Frederick, MD. I love fireworks. We should definitely celebrate more things with them. Here are some great pictures of Andrew with wacky hair for dress up day at camp. His idea, but I was the artist!! I kept her busy for the first few days she was here. I was throwing a baby shower for my friend Sara Fisher and my mom just happened to be here to help. My mom sure knows how to organize me and get things accomplished.(Sara's baby girl is due this month! She will have such a cool mom!) While my mom was here we went to Pennsylvania to check out Amish country, D.C. to the Botanical Gardens and this awesome butterfly exhibit. All of which were very cool but my very favorite place that we went was to this AMAZING RIBBON OUTLET!!! We drove like an hour out of our way to this factory ribbon outlet but it was so worth it. You could get rolls of ribbon for .10 cents. Good rolls not lousy rolls. You could also stuff a bag of ribbon left overs for $1.09! It was amazing. We were stuffing bags like crazy. It was so good to have my mom here. I miss her so much but now I have fun memories with her at this end of the world.

OuR HouSe in the MiDdLe of the WooDs

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JB-mupJBeo8/SF7YpwWNWMI/AAAAAAAAABc/WIKrjU050Ck/s320/P6220731.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214843630405900482" />

So, because Emily asked, here is a picture of the place that we rent. It is in a really beautiful area, but being in the middle of the woods comes with a price. We are constantly bombarded with all sorts of insects and woodland creatures. The most being spiders. The other insects don't bother me much but I am terrified of these spiders we get. They are not regular spiders. They are spiders on steroids. There have been many times when I have to call Andrew to come and stomp a spider for me. I can hardly move when I see one of these guys. The other night it stormed and this for some reason brings the spiders out. I was walking up our stairs and there was this gigantic guy crawling right by my head so of course I jump up the rest of the stairs and call for Andrew. As I was waiting with my back against the wall (as far as I could get from the spider but still keep my eye on it) for him to come and rescue me I noticed something moving out of the corner of my eye. And there staring right at me was an even BIGGER spider, and being the sissy that I am I emitted what can only be refered to as a shriek. Andrew did come and save the day but he has decided that I have to overcome this and learn to stomp those suckers myself. (Yeah right.)
The picture is of a spider camped out near our front door. It is about half the size of the two that I saw that night. Can you blame me for being scared!

MY FIRST BLOG ENTERY!!!

So after much prompting by my friends Breanne and Sara I have decided to start a blog.
I hope they will be avid readers and leave lots of comments. Hint! Hint! Andrew and I are living in North Potomac, Maryland and I get so homesick for Utah that sometimes I don't really appreciate the great area of the country we live in. There is lots to do here and we definitely need to take advantage of it.
Andrew works for this organization called Calleva. He is director of a summer camp for 6-9 year olds. Camp started today so I will not see my sweet, hard working hubby for pretty much the rest of the summer. He loves his job and all of the people he works with, how lucky is that? He is always busy and has a lot of businesses and jobs on the side.
I nanny for a family in the area. I really in enjoy working for the family. They are great people.
Andrew and I are approaching our 2nd year of marriage. It went by so fast. It is crazy to look back and see all of the changes and progression that have taken place in so little time. We are definite opposites but I think it is a good thing. Andrew is so laid back that I feel like I am a huge worrier (which I probably am). And there is definitely never a dull moment with him around.
Yay, for my first entry. I hope I will be able to sort through our dull life and find some interesting things to blog about!
